Comment on the depth of appropriate research
We started out without any views on what we wanted to do so we researched into the company as a starting point, then moved onto competitors to see what works and what doesn't. As primary research we developed 2 questionnaires, one where we got people to try the drink and give feedback on what they tasted and how they felt about it once they tried it. For many people, they enjoyed but had not heard of the brand. We took buzzwords from the questionnaires to inform our direction from that point.
Our secondary research has informed our design direction and the primary evidence (questionnaires) has had an effect on our ideas.
Comment on the breadth of initial ideas
As a starting point we did not tie ourselves down to a concept, which meant we were free to think of a number of possibilities. We always knew the sort of direction we were to take the project in, it was just about defining the audience. Once we had an idea we thought could be successful we found that it drove the concept to certain extent and that allowed us to focus down our thinking so that our ideas after would be relevant to the concept and target audience.
Comment on the selection of potential solutions
The selection of potential solutions were limited to what form they could take. For example, because the event we have decided will be held at Glastonbury, we are immediately limited in the ways in which we can advertise effectively. The festival is shut from the world. They aren't massive tv screens we can use so we decided to do a print campaign based on that.
Comment on the thorough visual development
I started by simply writing lists of initial ideas and then got my partner to visualise them on paper. The visual development needs to start moving along at a quicker pace now, and we must look to develop our chosen ideas and mock them up as part of a resolution.
Comment on the attention to detail/crafting
I think we have been really careful as to think how we go about this project. It's difficult to decipher what the brief actually wants but once we had some ideas it was important to us that they were followed through and developed to a professional standard and delivered in the right way. I think we have some strong ideas and the delivery suits the design direction and form the resolutions will take. I think its pretty water tight because of that. We haven't done anything based on a hollywood budget, we are doing what the brief wants, and it all ties in nicely together.
Comment on the clarity of presentation
So far we have been really organised and the presentation has been really slick because of that. We have structured our work and the folder we have has a sense of how the brief has unfolded and how it will come to a conclusion. We just need to do more of it now to succeed.
