Once I finish all the experimental layouts I have sketched, I can look at them all and decide what works best. I find that doing it this way generates the idea development quicker and enables me to make a decision and move on. These layouts are basic at present but once I have design template I think I can work with, I can start to factor in things like page numbers, and other critical information.
I have had to reduce the size of the magazine spreads because of the cost of printing. Each page now measures 275mm square appose to the 297mm square which would not fit comfortably on a single A2 sheet. The more compact version means it is more comfortably readable compared to the magazines competitors and it works without the amount of copy I have.
