New Module - Collaborative Practice

A new module has officially started and I am back for more design fun. I have decided to collaborate with Lindsey Marshall, who was my collaborative partner from the previous year. As collaborations go, we maintained a good relationship and worked well throughout. At first there was apprehension on both our parts but now I feel we have got over that and can get down to listening to one anothers ideas and have much more trust in one another.
Although we are now friends because of the last collaborative process but we both are professional people and I feel confident we can work effectively. In terms of design specific skills, I am much more involved in the digital production side of things and Lindsey works well with exploring idea generation off screen.

We decided to work together because we felt we could do a lot better than we did previously and the progress we have both made since the first time we collaborated could be used as the base for a more solid partnership. Here are the posters I created as advertisements for my creative partner. It's fair to say I spent more time on the one that best shows my skills as that is where my interest lies. I purposely tried to make my illustration on the wanted poster appear crappy, as I wanted to someone to help me out with that. I had a good response from it too.

I was quite proud of this poster, and actually considered how I went about it, hence me rushing the other one. I re-created the look and feel of layout design by inserting the bars to show how one would mock up text on a column layout. I thought it communicated what I wanted clearly and it was a strong piece that held its own against the rest of the groups.

I chose green as a tranquil colour to show how friendly and approachable I am and used the serif typeface to show I have traditional values and appreciate the serif form.

I did another version later just because I wanted to tinker with it. I sometimes believe rotating the whole thing slightly sometimes works as it fills the frame in a different way. I wasn't totally happy with it, and thought it was something that bad designers do to make poor layouts seem a little more 'edgy'. That said, I have done it in the past.

This is the pre-collaborative form I had to fill out to show exactly what I wanted in a collaborative partner and what I had to offer.
