I had my first real crit and the ideas were free flowing. We spent over 3 hours critting 5 pieces of work and I think we could have talked more still. Everyone in our group, I think, went away with valuable information and clear direction to what they wanted to achieve. I thought I had an idea that I would run with and then after hearing feedback and suggestions one of my other ideas has come to forefront.
Originally, this morning I planned on delivery an idea for a mailshot which would be posted to people who pay for music downloads, and persuade them to buy physical format cds. I had only come up with the idea yesterday and I was feeling it could work for a while but the group decided that the idea wasn't doing much for them, and that it could be a little confusing.
They suggested going with an early item which was to package the CD in a luxury box of chocolates but modify my original idea a little and then use that as a product rather than a mailshot. This works miles better, as I don't have to think about the cost implications as much as this will have a sale value.
This is definitely a eureka moment for me. My next step is to look at chocolate box packaging and gift wrapping. I will be posting a new concept statement in due course.
