New Statement of Intent

Posted: Wednesday 20 October 2010 | Posted by Adam Townend | Labels: ,

I have amended my statement of intent to include the new brief I am looking at and also added a couple of points in my statement section.

I feel like I have been working like crazy these past 2 weeks but I have got little to show for it in the way of real progress on one particular brief. The change to the Element brief has set me back and by working across all 4 of my intended briefs since the start has made it impossible for me to finish one.

I have amended my statement section to include 'To take on as much work as I can without hindering the quality of my work'

Rationale (200 words)
- Idea driven designer with focus on typography and layout across a variety of media for both high-end commercial print and web.

- Predominantly design for print with an eye on new technologies.
- Client & Designer led

- Predominantly work for the publishing, information and promotional sectors (Posters, flyers, Book Covers, Magazine spreads, Reports, Corporate Identity).

- Clear and direct design approach with attention to detail.

- Work with existing typefaces and modify and create new typefaces to work with.

Statement of Intent (200 words)
- All the briefs I have chosen will help me to have a focussed enough design practice but will also allow me to experiment with type and layout, as this remains my focus as mentioned in my rationale.

- I will develop skills in Adobe InDesign in order to further my knowledge of working with type and grid systems.

- I will use the print workshops to develop skills in preparing artwork for print, and gain knowledge about specialist print finishes.

- I will make quick and informed decisions in order to produce appropriate design resolutions to the brief.

- To take on as much work as I can without hindering the quality of my work.
